Fearless
The other night Jason and I took the dogs on their walk. It was that time of day when the sun was going down and it wasn’t dark yet, but it was hard to see into corners and such. Well somehow Jason noticed this person lying on the ground in some oleander bushes. At first the person looked lifeless, but Jason asked “hey man, you ok?” The person said yeah, and layed his head back down. Jason said “are you sure?” The guy grunted a yes. Well we continued with our walk, and when we were heading back to that spot Jason stated that he was going to confront the guy. I argued, and wanted to go another way home, because the guy was creeping me out. I started walking another way, and became even more scared to walk in the dark without Jason. I was getting really mad that Jason was going to confront this crazy person because we have had some sketchy incidents in our neighborhood recently. I ran after him, and I made sure Micah knew to be on high alert in case this guy pulled something. When I finally caught up to him Jason was completing his conversation with the guy, and we started walking home.
Jason then informed me that the “guy” was actually a teenager who was running away from home, and going to L.A. Jason told the kid he was going to bring him some food, water, and a blanket. So we went home and collected the necessary items, grabbed the dogs again, and headed back to the kid. The kid was gone.
We turned the corner, and there he was, walking home. Jason and I watched as the kid turned into a driveway and disappeared inside a house. We ran into a police officer on our way home, and we told him what house the kid had gone into. While talking to the officer we could hear what was being brodcast over his radio… “teenage kid, out of control, throwing furniture, possibly bi-polar…” The officer thanked us, and pulled into the driveway of the house that Jason indicated.
Jason taught me ANOTHER valuble lesson in life. You cannot let your fear stop you from reaching out to people. You never know what is going on in someone’s life until you reach out of your comfort zone and ask. I told you my husband is fabulous.
